Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., Verizon Wireless is the largest U.S. wireless
company and largest wireless data provider based on revenues. The company is a joint venture of Verizon
Communications.
Verizon Communications Inc. provides communications services, has two segments - Wireline
and Domestic Wireless.
The Company’s domestic wireless business - Verizon Wireless, provides wireless voice and data products and services across the US
using domestic wireless networks. During the year ended December, 2006, Verizon acquired MCI,
Inc., sold its 100% indirect interest in Verizon Dominicana C. por A. and completed the spin-off of
Idearc. In March 2007, Verizon completed the sale of its 52% interest in Telecomunicaciones de Puerto
Rico, Inc. to a subsidiary of America Movil, S.A.B. de C.V.
The Company’s Wireline business provides telephone services including voice,
network access and nationwide long-distance services, broadband video and data services and other
communications products and services in 150 countries. Its wireline business owns and
operates one of the global Internet Protocol (IP) networks.
Vodafone is the world's largest mobile telecommunications company, with equity interests in 25 countries
and Partner Networks in an additional 38 countries. As of March, 2007, Vodafone had approximately
206.4 million proportionate customers worldwide.
